great silver jewelry

  • Posted on May 29, 2009 at 9:17 am

Silver has been around for thousands and thousands of years, and has become one of the world’s most well known precious metals. It can be found in everything from dentistry, electronics, mirrors and even medicine, but one of its most well known uses is in jewelry. Silver jewelry creates a cooler toned look than gold does, and gleams with a beautiful, unmatched intensity. Sometimes shopping for jewelry can leave you with your head in your hands as you mentally watch your money fly away, but if you take the time, you can find lovely silver jewelry at affordable prices. Here is what you can keep your eye out for.

One of the disadvantages of exchanging silver rings is that since silver is susceptible to tarnishing and scratching, the silver ring might become tarnished and scratched in the long run. To maintain the life of the silver ring, it should be stored in a cool, dry place and regularly rubbed with a polish and polishing cloth.

One of the most popular trends in silver jewelry over the past few years has been dangling silver earrings. The trends have varied, of course, and have gone from the wide, shimmery chandelier earrings to simple, long tear shaped drop earrings. The more ornate the earring the more expensive it may be, but you can locate some stunning silver dangling earrings at very reasonable prices. If you want something with a little extra bling, make sure you are looking for earrings with cubic zirconia instead of real diamonds. This will compliment the silver just like a real diamond will but can save you a lot of money.

Silver Rings

If you’re buying a ring as a gift for someone, you’re definitely already on the right track. A ring makes a lasting and more meaningful gift than an MP3 player or a new casserole pan. At the end of the day, a ring is a symbol (of friendship, love, unity and much more), as well as a beautiful accessory to wear.

Silver, used for both practical and ornamental purposes, is a metal that has a staying power. It is the most plentiful and least expensive of the earth’s more precious metals like gold and palladium. Silver is a metal that has been used since the time of ancient civilizations to make everything from dishes to armor and crafted jewelry like silver promise rings. As such, a person with a small budget for a promise ring could ideally opt for a silver promise ring. As silver is a malleable and ductile metal, the silver promise ring could be inscribed with lovely, private wordings to seal the relationship.

Silver rings will never go out of style. The wonderful thing about silver is its versatility and ability to match with virtually any gemstone and design a jeweler wants to make. Finding a silver ring, if you are open to a variety of styles and shapes, should be a breeze within a lower price range. One of the most popular types of silver rings is the Celtic ring. These silver rings can be found in designs like the Trinity knot or the Claddagh design and are certainly special and stand out pieces of jewelry. Another affordable silver ring design is pieces with an antique look to them. You might not be able to afford genuine antique silver rings, but many ring designers these days try to get their rings to have the look without the high price tag.

Boucheron has a 150 years legacy in designing precious gems, jewelry, watches and perfumes. Boucheron is known for its rich and high quality creations. It was founded by Frederic Boucheron in 1858. He was considered a pioneer among jewelers. He was also the first to create a wrist watch with engraved diamonds. His superb innovative art of introducing nature into jewelry which is called the Art Nouvean style became a talk of the jewelry industry.

Boucheron created beautiful pieces of art which included modern jewelry, new watch models and perfumes to suit the contemporary lifestyle. His creation was popular all over the world.

By 1920, Boucheron had introduced the dangling earring to the world as well as the concept of white jewelry, which involved setting diamonds in platinum. He also designed crowns and other jewels for a number of queens and princesses.

In 1988, the jewelry house expanded to offer its own perfume. The perfume, which is recognized as being the first parfum bijou, was created in an attempt to capture the same craft and spirit that is used in each of the jewelry pieces the house creates. The perfume was such as success that the line was expanded in 2005 to include additional scents. Some of their most well known fragrances include Jaipur, Jaipur Saphir, Boucheron Pour Homme, Trouble, and Initial.

In 2000, the Gucci Group acquired the company. Some of the more recent perfume releases that have taken place since this acquisition have included Trouble Eau Legere and Jaipur Homme Fraicheur in 2006. All of these scents are available through major department stores and online fragrance distributors.

In 1858, Frédéric Boucheron founded his own jewellery house and opened a boutique in the highly fashionable Palais Royal district of Paris. The luxurious boutique quickly attracted a prestigious clientele. Over four generations, the family business grew into one of the world’s best-known fine jewellery brands. In 1893 Boucheron was the first jewellery store to open a boutique on the Place Vendôme, a neighbourhood known for its urbanity and elegance. In this century, while remaining true to its unique tradition and legacy, Boucheron has become a name synonymous with aggressive and luxurious modern jewelry designs.

Since being founded in 1858, the company has been responsible for the creation of a number of various jewelry and watch pieces. During his lifetime, Frederick Boucheron was considered to be a pioneer in the industry as he experimented with various metals and gems in order to create new and innovatively exquisite pieces. Among his most notable achievements were the experiments he performed on diamond engraving, which was the groundwork that led to the “nature” style of Art Nouveu in the 19th century that featured snake, dragonfly, and butterfly images as well as other animal figures of a symbolic nature. He has also been credited as being the first person to design the wristwatch, as it is known today.

He was also the first jeweler to open at the prestigious Paris square of Place Vendome, which he did 25 years after founding the company. The company remains one of the most famous and respected French jewelry enterprises in the world. In addition, the jewelry house continues to be renown for its creativity and know-how.

Winston may be most famous for once owning the Hope diamond which he donated to the Smithsonian Museum in DC. I’ve seen the diamond firsthand and it is awe-inspiring!

Harry Winston established his company in 1932. He apparently had a love affair with diamonds….feeling immense joy when acquiring a new bauble and deep depression when selling one of his pride and joys. Harry’s son Ronald Winston is currently chairman of the company.

From the glamour of the Academy Awards to the glitter on a bride’s finger, Harry Winston engagement rings and jewelry are the ultimate in dramatic design. Not only has the House of Harry Winston been responsible for some of the most famous jewels in the world, but their specialized operations oversee the entire production of quality jewelry, from rough stones to cutting, polishing, and final sales. For a discriminating couple with a taste for uniquely American gem design, a Harry Winston ring is the essence of diamond elegance.

Harry Winston is hands on from start to finish with their pieces. The whole process of cutting, polishing, designing and creating the finished jewel is conducted in the Harry Winston 5th Avenue building in NYC. Their jewelry and engagement rings are like no others when it comes to quality, craftsmanship, and prestige.

Harry Winston has draped some of the world’s biggest celebrities in diamonds. Who could forget Bennifer’s enormous pink diamond engagement ring. Ben Affleck loved Harry Winston jewelry enough to also present Jennifer Garner with a 4.5 carat Harry Winston ring. Paris Hilton briefly sported a canary yellow Harry Winston diamond, when engaged to a man with her same namesake. You may have heard of the Taylor-Burton diamond, a 70 carat pear shaped rock? Hands down, the celebs love Harry Winston. Perhaps this is because Harry Winston covers celebrities in diamonds for some of the largest, most glamorous red carpet events like the Tonys, the Emmys, and the Academy Awards. And their prices are high enough to keep most of the riff-raff out of their stores and from the majority of commoners from wearing their designs.

Diamond Cross Pendants

  • Posted on May 21, 2009 at 4:36 am

Diamond cross pendants have become a marvelous way for people of the Christian faith to show their faith as well as wear an attractive and distinctive piece of diamond jewelry. There are quite a few styles and types of pendants and chains to choose from when one is looking for a new pendant , and here are a few things you may want to keep in mind when you’re out shopping

You may be surprised at the many styles are available. Crosses are available with just a simple diamond at the center of a gold, silver or even wooden cross. Or, the cross may be made up solely of the diamonds and their settings. Very tiny simple crosses look lovely on a little girl at her Baptism or First Communion. Teenagers and young adults often opt for larger, ornate crosses with diamonds of varying sizes. These go particularly well with today’s Gothic look. Quite often there are matching rings and earrings available to make a lovely set

Diamond cross pendants can be a very distinctive piece of jewelry and unless the diamonds themselves are huge, not very expensive to boot! Though the size of the diamonds ion your diamond cross pendants may not seem worthy of consideration when it comes to things such as the 4 C’s, there are still a few times you’ll want to bear in mind when you’re shopping for them. The clarity and quality of the stones themselves is of concern as is the setting in which the diamonds are actually seated. Does it seem secure? Are any diamonds in jeopardy of falling out. Look at them carefully, for even though this may not be the most expensive diamond purchase you’ll ever make, you still don’t want it disintegrating on you!

Pendant Designs

For most people, pendants are a simple and thoughtful way to express their love. These are typically worn on chains around the neck, but nowadays innovative trends have witnessed these pieces doubling up as anklet charms, on bracelets and even as a stylish brooch. Most are worn on gold, silver or platinum chains. Diamonds are great gifts for both sexes and can be given on almost any occasion.

Women of every age can wear diamond cross pendants anywhere, whether they are religious or not. A diamond cross always look right, whether at a church service or at sophisticated cocktail parties.

Presenting the pendant in an elegant gift box is always right. But why not make the presentation extra special: This Easter put the pendant inside a hollow chocolate Easter egg or bunny. Hang it around the neck of an Easter stuffed animal. If you’re not giving it at Easter, try to find another occasion-related item in which to hide the pendant. Or, hang it from the rearview mirror of her car?

For the die-heart romantics, nothing says undying love like a heart diamond pendant. This consists of a number of diamonds arranged in a heart shape. You could also gift a crucifix or other faith symbols for a dear one who has strong religious sentiments.
