Tiffany Gift Kits I

  • Posted on July 21, 2009 at 3:06 am

Recently, I heard the news Tiffany selected ten perfect gifts, wrapped in Tiffany Blue®. Each is a must-have on someone’s list. From famous jewelry icons and colorful gemstones to holiday mementos, the collection shines with a heritage of quality and legendary style that was established with Tiffany’s founding in 1837. Let’s have a detail look.

1. Tiffany revived the rose cut, an early style of gemstone cutting inspired by the petals of an opening rosebud. The rose-cut diamonds are combined with round brilliant-cut diamonds in earrings ($5,000) that capture the beauty of freshly-picked blossoms

4. Tiffany’s heritage as a premier watchmaker can be traced through a timeline of innovations that extends from the jeweler’s founding in 1837 to the latest Tiffany timepiece: an oval-shaped cocktail watch of diamonds and 18 karat white gold ($12,600) that keeps time with dazzling precision.

Tiffany Colorful Gemstones

  • Posted on July 14, 2009 at 6:13 am

200907141efbc8d1Colored gemstones is said to be a centerpiece of Tiffany’s jewelry collections, which played a major part in establishing Tiffany as a world-renowned jeweler. These radiant gemstones are a measure of nature’s magic. Sparkling in exquisite Tiffany jewels, they are an ultimate gauge of glamour and style.

If you are enough attentive, you must have found that all Tiffany great designers have a special affection to the gemstones. Say the most familiar designer Jean Schlumberger, he utilizes a dynamic color mix to create ravishing flowers, birds, and mythical creatures. His unexpected combinations-emeralds, amethysts, yellow and blue sapphires in the magnificent Phoenix clip, for example-along with a strong sculptural quality, spark a new experience of nature’s fantastic color scheme.

Also the creative designer Paloma Picasso, one of the world’s premier designers, is celebrated for jewelry of impressive magnitude and sophistication. Favored by fashion-conscious women everywhere, the designer highlights looks in all seasons with generously scaled gemstones. Her bold ring designs underscore the unique identity of bright pink and chrome green tourmalines, lustrous tanzanites and sky-blue aquamarines.

In Tiffany House, we can say each color is a classic expression of fashion, presented with the utmost quality and craftsmanship that have distinguished Tiffany & Co. for over eight generations.

Tiffany’s First Look-Beauty and the Beads

  • Posted on July 8, 2009 at 3:34 am

200907082-1We got the latest news that Tiffany adds the Beads into Tiffany’s First Look Collection-Necklace of grossularite beads with shell of hand-carved chrysoprase, platinum-set diamonds and pink sapphires. The green is both a color and a call to celebrate the natural world. Tiffany answers with the gemstone grossularite, a green garnet. Twenty-four smooth grossularite beads were carefully selected for this elegant necklace. The polished stones are accented with a shell of hand-carved chrysoprase and pink sapphires that ingeniously hides the clasp and is embraced by a sea creature’s dazzling diamond tentacles.

The beautiful Beads was inspired by Nikki Butler. In her long modeling career, she travelled around the world, and her journeys have served as inspiration for her jewelry business. “I discovered beads on my travels and in my native South Africa,” she said. And while she loves the ethnic feel of beads, Butler describes her nikki b. line as “21st century beads that are all about simplicity, minimalism and modernity.”

How Much Do You Know about Tiffany Silver Design

  • Posted on July 2, 2009 at 1:34 am

200907021-3How can Tiffany be so gloried and honored in Jewelry World? With striking new designs or with new flourishes to renowned patterns. It is definitely a good answer, but not complete.

Since 1837, Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) founded Tiffany & Co., he brought the best of all worlds—exotic finds from China, India and Europe, royal jewels, lavishly chased sterling silver—to a captivated and ever growing clientele.

How comes the sterling silver?A man is very imprtant- New York silversmith John C. Moore. In 1851 the company signed an agreement with leading New York silversmith John C. Moore to make hollowware pieces.Tiffany crafted abundant metal into opulent designs that epitomized the sumptuous décor and dining habits of the Gilded Age. The varied motifs were derived from Moore’s vast design library. His countless volumes on architecture, horticulture and metallurgy, as well as collections of Japanese lacquer, Islamic glass, Middle and Far Eastern tiles and textiles, and European porcelains, formed the basis of the “Tiffany School,” America’s first school of design.

From then on, much attention was paid to the company’s innovative Japanesque-style silver, designs of a refined simplicity with hammered surfaces, applied three-dimensional flora and fauna, and inlaid mixed metals. Unsurpassed in the history of American silver, Tiffany’s Japanesque silver had an important and modernizing influence on American and European decorative arts.Tiffany’s silver entry at the 1878 fair also included the spectacular Mackay dinner-and-dessertservice for 24, one of the most elaborate silver table services ever produced. Created from a half-ton of silver sent by prospector John Mackay from his Comstock Lode mines in Nevada, the 1,250-piece service, including hollowware and flatware, was developed from flower-encrusted Persian and Indian motifs, with thistles, shamrocks, and American flowers. The service took two years and 200 craftsmen to complete.

These historic achievements established Tiffany as the unchallenged master of American silver design and represent the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship that direct Tiffany silversmiths today.

Jean Schlumberger’s Designs at Tiffany & Co.

  • Posted on June 29, 2009 at 8:35 pm

Schlumberger’s designs at Tiffany & Co. were marvellous for their whimsical interpretations of natural forms. He was especially inspired by sea creatures and other animals. Diana Vreeland wrote that Schlumberger “appreciates the miracle of jewels. For him, they are the ways and means to the realization of his dreams.”

200906301-1One of the most famous pieces that Schlumberger created was the mounting for the famed Tiffany Diamond, which was in the firm’s collection since the nineteenth century. The brooch, entitled “Bird on a Rock”, a whimsical bird, covered in platinum-set diamonds and plumed in 18k gold, perches atop a magnificent emerald-cut, 106.94-carat aquamarine.

200906301-11Jean Schlumberger Daisy bracelet, a luxurious design that captures the flower’s unique spirit and energy. Textured 18K gold petals are connected in a continuous, open pattern accented with round brilliant diamonds set in platinum. The bracelet’s strong, sculptural quality is a signature of Jean Schlumberger’s collection for Tiffany & Co.

200906301-12Jean Schlumberger diamond and gemstone rings for Tiffany & Co. The rings feature gemstones of exceptional color saturation, cut and clarity. Four Flowers ring with cushion-cut aquamarine, 18K gold and platinum-set diamond flowers; and extravagant Leaves ring with radiant cushion-cut rubellite emerging from lush 18K gold leaves sparkling with platinum-set diamonds.

Most Gifted Artist -Jean Schlumberger

  • Posted on June 29, 2009 at 3:40 am

Jean Schlumberfer is considered to be one of the twentieth century’s most gifted artists who bring us many fantastic designs. Natural wonders and mesmerizing beauties co-exist in his every design. With gold and dazzling gemstones as his palette, he captured the glory of flowers, exotic birds and mythical creatures in bejeweled statements unrivaled in the world of jewelry design.

Schlumberger’s first design is a gold cigarette lighter in the shape of a gold fish with gemstone eyes and flexible tail. It was now became a classic. In 1941, he created the Trophée clip for Diana Vreeland, legendary editor of Vogue. Now in the Tiffany & Co. Archives, the clip features an oval-cut amethyst and ruby shield with a warrior’s chain mail scaled with diamonds, and longbow, arrows, spear, and ruby-set sword in blue enamel.

Schlumberger is deemed as a superb draftsman, as he began each design with a drawing to discover the purity and grace of the natural forms that caught his eye. The sketch, he said, also serves as “the only link between the three members of that complex and disparate trio formed by the client, craftsman and creator.” A detailed drawing was then produced and the final design was created in precious metal and gemstones.

Schlumberger often traveled to Bali, India and Thailand to fire his imagination and create his own magical mementos, such as the exotic Oiseau de Paradis clip with yellow beryl, amethysts, emeralds, and sapphires; and the Sea Bird clip that combines a bird’s beak and head with a serpent’s body in pavé diamonds, rubies, and spike-like 18k gold plumage.

Schlumberger’s work is also distinguished by a strong sculptural quality, which is beautifully embodied in his Frame clip, a center sapphire enclosed with pavé diamonds and draped with a diamond baguette ribbon. This strength of design unifies the varied elements in his most intricate pieces. As in nature, every flower, leaf, bird and fish is unique, a true Schlumberger original shaped into a well-integrated work of art.

In later years, Jean Schlumberger returned to Paris, the city that awakened his artistic soul. He died in 1987, at the age of eighty, leaving a legacy of bejeweled flowers, ocean life and birds of wonder.
